Finally: Reflect.
This experience requires you to do a little 'targeted networking.' How will this experience shape how you participate in any future networking events? When you meet someone never underestimate the validity of the person or judge a book by its cover. Everyone is important, its a a small world!
Did this experience differ from your networking experiences in the past? Im now 50 years old and had learned networking at a very young age from my Uncles and also being a musician which is very much about networking.

I definitely agree that it is important not to underestimate the impact and knowledge that others may have when you first meet them. It's great that you had a mentor before starting your business that was able to show you the books and inventory stuff.
ReplyDeleteGreat post! Having a family member that has had such great success in the business seems like it could be very helpful in pursuing your idea! It seems like you have learned a lot from him and gained a lot of valuable experience. I think you did a good job speaking to people who can help expand your network and grow your business.
